1. I spent the $5 yesterday, you see, the Houston Chronicle guy is outside from 6am-6pm in the hot sun. He doesn't get to leave his station for lunch and he barely has time to use the restroom. So we took him some cold water, Gatorade, and then we bought him a combo from Chic fil a. The man started to cry, he said no one has ever been that thoughtful to him. Every time we see him now on the weekends we are going to bring him a cold water or Gatorade. Lisa

4. Here's what I did with my $5.00 challenge.Today there was a booth set up in the lobby of our building selling breakfast tacos for United Way. I bought as many tacos that the five dollars could and then handed them out to the people riding up in the elevator. Not only did I make a few people smile. I donated to United Way! Win, Win!! Tracy
5. I gave a thank you note and the $5 to a nurse that takes care of my father and aunt. I wanted to give it out in California. She was so lovely - she thanked me for the letter, in which I had explained Emily's project, but said it was against the home's rules for her to accept anything of monetary value. So I will have a second opportunity and the project did motivate me to write a thoughtful thank you note.Thank you Emily, I'm off to another opportunity to share it forward. Carolyn
6. So having managed to get first place in our local Go tournament on 8/30, I decided to take Emily’s $5 and add it to my winnings to seed a scholarship fund for Houston area students who want to attend Summer Go Camps that the American Go Association holds each year. We have announced the fund on our website www.houstongoclub.org and hope to get more contributions in time for the 2009 summer. Robert
7. I just got back from a business trip and I liked the idea of matching Emily's money, so I gave away about $10. I gave a parking driver: $1 Plus 2 bananas and pint of blue berries. He thanked me. I tipped a Gal at food stand who remembered me from one month before, she thanked me as well. Young gal at airport I bought pizza slice from on way home, I asked her if they had a tip jar and she said no. So I said this $2 was for her and the other man who put the slice in a box. She took one of the dollars to give to him and said it was from me, but he gave it back to her. That was very nice to see. Then I noticed a lady sweeping and cleaning the sitting area. I took her a magazine, with the two one dollar bills in the front. I told her these were from a student at my church who wanted her to have a gift for her hard work. She was touched and thanked me. Finally, on the bus back to my car, I gave the man $1 even though he didn't help me with my bag. He was surprised and he thanked me.So there you go, Emily. It was fun. Carolynn
8. With the hurricane on its way, everyone is filling up their gas tanks. While I was getting gas I noticed an elderly handicapped lady who was counting out her change to pay for her gas. I gave her your $5 and said it was a gift to help her with her gas. She was surprised and happy. Cat

12.My aunt's best friend Laurie has a daughter in law who is 23, has severe cystic fibrosis, couldn't finish college, cannot work and was scheduled for 2 lung transplants but couldn't continue surgery because she didnt meet the weight requirement of 85lbs. Laurie owns a consignment shop, so I am going to send her things to sell and instead of giving me the money she can put it in a fund for the daughter in laws medical expenses. I will also contribute Emily's $5 to this fund.
