Dream Girls-2009 TX Supreme Royalty and 2008 South Texas High-Point Champion

Give a Gift and Pass it on

My name is Emily Avera and when I won the 2008 South Texas Dream Girls USA pageant, I began this service project.  It is called “Give a Gift and pass it on”. In this service project the goal is to take 5 dollars and do something good for someone in need. As you spend your five dollars (you can spend it all on one person, or multiple people) you can email me and tell me how you spent it and how the person reacted. Here are a few examples of how you could spend your five dollars-try to be creative instead of giving the money away, for instance try to buy a flower for someone who needs to be cheered up, or buy a meal for a homeless person or some cookies for a new neighbor. Whenever you do your good deed remember to tell your person, if you can that it’s part of a service project, and to pay it forward and keep the good deeds going. The idea behind this project is that one good deed sets off another and that a little can go a long way.  I began this project with my $250 that I received with my first Dream Girls title.
I handed out $5 to church members, a local sorority chapter and other groups. When I ran out of money, others volunteered to supply their own $5. Recently I won some more money when I became National Jr Teen for YAMI, so the project continues! I hope you find this a worthwhile project and will accept the $5 Give a Gift challenge.  Thank you for your support.
